As the new school year began in February, the pages of opportunity turn with fervor as WWK’s Bookmaking Cooperative flourishes in WWK local partner communities. In the final quarter of 2023, the members of our local partner in the Busega settlement of Kampala crafted 325 exercise books, which found eager hands among parents preparing their children for school. And as our local partners grow in their connection, sharing knowledge and markets, WWK members living in Kiboga purchased 75 counter books from the Busega cooperative, amplifying the cycle of empowerment.

With determination the women of the Busega bookmaking business embarked on a spirited sales campaign throughout their community. From shops to markets and even door-to-door, they tirelessly championed their product. Their collective efforts are poised to yield profits—a testament to the transformative power of collaboration and enterprise fostered by WWK’s initiatives.
