WWK pilots Uganda’s new Adult Literacy Program

On behalf of WWK, Peace Asimire is assessing the literacy of Musana Jessica, a member of WWK’s local community partner in Jinja. To improve and optimize WWK’s Adult Literacy program, we are piloting the successor to Uganda’s Functional Adult Literacy Program named Integrated Community Learning for Wealth Creation (ICOLEW), which focuses on “the needs of adult learners by imparting literacy and numeracy skills, and livelihood skills for socio-economic empowerment.” Just as the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development seeks to reduce poverty through the language of business in Uganda, WWK from its start has engaged our members in literacy learning.
